About Us

The Saskatchewan Trails Association (STA) was officially incorporated in July 2004 with the mandate to promote the development and use of recreational trails throughout Saskatchewan.

The creation of the Association was facilitated by S.P.R.A. and wholeheartedly supported by the Trans Canada Trail Foundation. The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (S.P.R.A.) concluded its administration of the Trans Canada Trail in Saskatchewan on June 30, 2004. Preceding that, an extended but enthusiastic process led stakeholders across the province to work on the development of a new provincial organization that would lead the Trans Canada Trail and other trail development across the province.

Since its inception, the Saskatchewan Trails Association has been hard at work, developing its website, creating insurance policies for member trail associations, and actively promoting the STA’s membership. Most recently, it completed the province's first ever strategic planning document for Saskatchewan trails.

Simultaneously, the Trans Canada Trail movement across the province keeps growing. Throughout the province, trails have been developed, bridges have been converted to trails, plaques have been unveiled and pavilions have been established.
